  •  Philip W. Dibben, 83, a WWII and Korean War Veteran and a Pasadena resident for over 40 years died on September 20, 2008 at his residence.
    Mr. Dibben was born on November 9, 1924 in Akron, Ohio to the late William T. and Helen Dibben.  He grew up in Shelby, North Carolina and later lived in the Linthicum Heights area  of Maryland before moving to Pasadena, Maryland.
    Mr. Dibben was a member of the US Army and a veteran of World War II, European Theater and the Korean War.
    He obtained his masters degree from North Texas State University and did his graduate work at the University of North Carolina after the military.
    Mr. Dibben was an executive mathematician for NSA for 30 years retiring in 1979.
    Mr. Dibben was a member of the Lake Shore Rotary, the Pasadena Horse and Pony Association, and a distinguished member of the Cryptomathematics Institution and the Crypto Society.
    In his free time he enjoyed doing volunteer work in the mathematics department at Northeast High School, and after his retirement in 1979 breeding and racing thoroughbreds.
    He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alice M. Dibben, his son William T. Dibben of Pasadena, his daughters Evelyn L. Dibben of Denver, CO and H. Kathleen Dibben of Pasadena, his sister Jane Manning of Nantucket, MA, and his grandson Aaron M. Mirenzi of Severna Park.
    A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Dibben residence, Sand Hill Farm. Interment is private.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401
