  • William “Babe” C. Porter, Sr., 87, a 58 year resident of Glen Burnie and formerly of Baltimore died on August 27, 2013 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

     Babe was born on January 22, 1926 in Baltimore, MD to the late Lemuel and Catherine Porter.

    He served in the US Navy and was a WWII Veteran. Babe was a State Trooper during the 1960’s and later founded The Drive Rite Driving School in Glen Burnie with his wife Betty. Babe was a member of the American Legion #195 and the State Police Alumni. Babe is preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Porter.

    He is survived by his sons; Bill Porter, Jr. of Baltimore, Carl Porter of Glen Burnie, and Mark Porter of Glen Burnie, his daughter Debbie J. Brooks of Pasadena, 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

    Friends may call on Sunday and Monday from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Stallings Funeral Home, PA where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 AM.  Interment MD Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
