  • Virginia Mollie Conklin, 99, a 5 year resident of Upperco and previously of Anne Arundel County died on April 25, 2014.

     

    She was born in Northern Baltimore County, MD on July 4, 1914 to the late Clarence and Virginia Harrison.

    She was a homemaker but owned G&G Ceramics in the late 50’s and early 60’s which they ran out of their home.  Mrs. Conklin was an artist who studied with a French Art Teacher in Baltimore County in the early 1930’s.  She was a member of the Pascal Senior Center where she did art work in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s for which she received many awards at the State and County Fairs.  She was also a seamstress; she made wedding dresses, including her own as well as her husband suits.

     

    In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, George R. Conklin, Jr., her brother Melvin Harrison, and her sister Muriel Beatty.

    Mrs. Conklin is survived by George H. Conklin, Sr. of Perry Hall, her daughter Florence Hubich of Upperco, 6 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

    Friends may call on Saturday from 11:00 to 12:30PM at the Stallings Funeral Home, P.A. where funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM.  Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Chesapeake Christian Center 206 Weston Woods Dr., Pasadena, MD 21122 c/o Glen H. Morris Center.
