  • ROBERT ALLAN ECKARDT of Pasadena, Maryland, died on December 6, 2014, at University of Maryland Hospital Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He was born on April 8, 1944 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
    He was preceded in death by his father, George Carl Eckardt, who died in 1996, and by his mother, Isabel Ruth Rodgers Eckardt, who died on February 19, 2014.
    Rob had over twenty-five years experience working for the Internal Revenue Service and over fifteen years experience in private tax practice as an "Enrolled Agent". In his I.R.S. career, Rob was promoted to Group Manager within five years of being hired, and he also held the title of Chief, Advisory Unit, Special Procedures Staff, and Chief, Technical Section, Technical and Office Compliance Branch.  During his I.R.S. career, Rob worked in four I.R.S. District Offices-Jacksonville, Delaware, Newark, and Baltimore, and retired in1997.
    Rob joined the U.S. Marine Corps immediately after graduating from Syracuse University in 1967, where he earned a B.S. in Marketing and Business Administration. Upon graduation from Officer Candidate School, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1967. After the required training, he applied for transfer to serve his country in the Republic of Vietnam. Following his transfer, First Lieutenant Eckardt served as an infantry Platoon Commander and in 1968 was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat V, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Ribbon. Upon retiring from the Marine Corps, he began his career with the Internal Revenue Service in 1971.
    Rob was very active in professional, community service and political organizations such as the National Association of Enrolled Agents, American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Marine Corps League, Elks, Moose, Republican National Committee, and Maryland Republican Party.
    Rob was an avid sportsman competing as a gymnast at Pennridge High School and continuing as a sailor, boater and piloting his own Cessna. 
    Surviving are his brother, George R. Eckardt of Palm Desert, California, his niece Kristin Eckardt of Boston, Massachusetts, his nephew Scott Eckardt, and Scott's wife Season, of Auburn, California and their daughters August & Saige, and his niece Kerri Eckardt Liljegren and Kerri's husband, Jeff Liljegren of San Francisco, California and their daughter Greta and sons Peter and Henry.
    A viewing will be held at Stallings Funeral Home at 3111 Mountain Road in Pasadena from 10 A.M. - noon on Thursday, December 11 followed by a service at the funeral home.
    Robert will return home to his native Bucks County, PA for a viewing at the Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home at 130 E. Broad Street in Sauderton, PA.  The viewing will take place from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M.
    Following the viewing at 11:30 A.M. will be an interment service and burial at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Prospectville, PA.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Church in Hilltown, PA
