  • Theodore R. Raitch, Sr., 98, a 32 year resident of Severn and formerly of Baltimore died on December 9, 2008 at his residence.
    He was born on March 16, 1910 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Theodore and Mary Raitch.
    Mr. Raitch was a member of the US Army where he served in the Battle of the Bulge European Theater during World War II as well as the Korean Conflict.  Mr. Raitch retired as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1952 after 25 years of service.  He also retired from the US Post Office in the mid 70's after 20 years of service.
    Mr. Raitch was a member of the Pascal Center, the American Legion Post 160, the Glen Burnie Moose and VFW Post in Baltimore where he was Post Commander.
    Mr. Raitch volunteered for Meals on Wheels from the mid 1970's until 2001 in the Glen Burnie and Severn areas.  He also enjoyed gardening and boating.
    Mr. Raitch is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Beatrice M. Raitch and his brother Michael Raitch.
    He is survived by his son Ted Raitch and his wife Pam of Laurel, MD, his daughters Kristina Zaruba and her husband David of Pasadena, and Janice Raitch Graham and her husband Joe Graham, Sr. of Glen Burnie, his grandchildren Ashleigh & Morgan Raitch and John & Joey Graham, Jr.
    Friends may call on Saturday, December 13, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00PM and Sunday, December 14, 2008 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, December 15, 2008 12 Noon at St. Athanasius Catholic Church.  Interment will be at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD.  Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels Pascal Center, 1250 Dorsey Rd., Glen Burnie, MD 21061
