  • Matthew Clay McCann, 37, a resident of Baltimore for over 15 years died on May 8, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

    He was born on May 6, 1978 in Baltimore, MD to Lois and Thomas “Tee” L. McCann, Jr.

    Matthew was born and raised in Pasadena, Maryland.  He was a lifelong member of Magothy Chelsea Lutheran Church.  As a youth he played sports for the Mountain Road Optimist and Lake Shore Athletics.  He graduated from Chesapeake High School in 1996 where he played varsity football. In 2001 he graduated from Western Maryland College where he played football and was given the nickname “Stork”.  Matt was also a member of Alpha Gamma Tau at Western Maryland.

    Mr. McCann was employed by TBC in Baltimore from high school until the early 2000’s at which time he began working for Catholic Relief Services.  While employed by Catholic Relief Services he traveled to Africa, Indonesia and Honduras.  For the last six years he worked for Connection Academy.

    Matthew helped with the Church of the Redeemers' youth group in Baltimore.  He loved playing and listening to music, traveling to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, fishing and being outdoors, riding motorcycles, and working on his motorcycle.

    Matthew is survived by his wife of 5 years, Annalisa McCann, his children Emmett C. and Audrey M. McCann, his parents Thomas “Tee” L. McCann, Jr. and Lois A. McCann, his brother Adam McCann and his wife Whitney, his paternal grandmother Mary McCann, and 2 nephews Jake and Connor McCann.

    Friends may call on Tuesday from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Stallings Funeral Home, P.A. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Chesapeake Catholic Church.  Interment Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Annalisa McCann so a trust fund can be set up for his children Emmett and Audrey.
