Details:
  • John C. Heilker, 74, of Camden, Maine, formerly of Pasadena, MD, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 3, 2015. He died at home with his wife by his side after a long struggle with dementia and asbestosis.

Born in Baltimore, MD he joined the United States Marine Corps at age 18 where he served honorably for two years and was discharged as a Lance Corporal.

John retired from the Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) after working there for 33 years. John was a huge Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles fan. John had a deep love for the military, especially his beloved Marine Corps. John and his wife traveled extensively visiting historic battle fields and museums so that John could pursue an in-depth study of America’s military engagements in World War II, and the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. John was also a long distance runner competing in several Marine Corps Marathons along with many short distance races.

John is survived by his loving wife Sharyn; his two sons Michael Heilker of Pasadena, MD and Steven Heilker of York, PA ; two step daughters Kellie Novak Thrailkill and Jamie Burke; two grandchildren Nicole Jordan and Eric Heilker;  two step grandchildren Harley Novak and Savanna Thrailkill and one great granddaughter, Lexi Heilker.
