  • James Howard Dittrich, 88,  a 25 year resident of Pasadena and formerly of Brooklyn, died on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Hospice of the Chesapeake.
    He was born on Tuesday, February 7, 1928 in Wilkinsburg,  PA to the late Elizabeth and James H. Dittrich .
    Mr. Dittrich enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1946.  He served in the 374 Supply Squadron and traveled overseas to Tachhikawa, Japan and Guam. Mr. Dittrich served honorably during WWII and was discharged in 1950.
    He  worked as a ship fitter in various ship yards in the Baltimore area including MD Drydock, the US Coast Guard and Bethlehem Steel retiring from the Sparrows Point location.  Mr. Dittrich worked on some interesting projects that impacted area transportation such as the steel girders for the 1st Bay Bridge and tubing for the 1st Harbor Tunnel.
    Mr. Dittrich attended Emanuel Wesleyan Methodist Church in Brooklyn, MD.  He was a member of the VFW Post #187 and a founding member of Water and Woods Sportsman Club.
    His hobbies included hunting and fishing.
    In addition to his parents Mr. Dittrich  is preceded in death by his brothers Ken Dittrich and  Bill Dittrich, his sister Jean Uppercue, and his grandson James Matthew Dittrich.
    He is survived by wife of 66 years Phyllis Dittrich, his daughter  Irma Mason, his sons  James C. Dittrich and his wife Eva and Russell K. Dittrich and his wife Annie, his sister  Mary J. McCann,  his grandchildren Nathan Mason, Jason Dittrich, Raymond Dittrich, Kathryn Dittrich, Sarah Reger, Beth Ruberry and Shannon Silverman, and 7 great grandchildren..
    Friends may call on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Stallings Funeral Home, P.A. where funeral services will be held that evening at 8:00 PM.  Interment private .  Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake or the Emanuel Wesleyan Methodist Church.
