  • Guy A. Burton, Sr., 74, a 49 year resident of Glen Burnie and formerly of Severna Park died on August 4, 2016 at his residence.

    He was born on November 13, 1941 in Severna Park, MD to the late Agnes and William E. Burton, Sr.

    Mr. Burton worked as a boat builder for Trumpies in Annapolis for 14 years before becoming a locksmith and a carpenter for the State of Maryland.  He began working for the State in the mid 1970's and most of his work took place at the Crownsville State Hospital until his retirement in 2011.

    In his earlier years he was a member of the Earleigh Heigths Volunteer Fire Department.

    His hobbies included woodworking, fishing, boating, country music, going to estate auctions and camping, especially at Frontier Town in Ocean City.  He also enjoyed all types of racing and going to Dorsey Speedway.

    In addition to his parents Mr. Burton is preceded in death by his brothers Robert W. and William E. Burton, Jr., his sisters Ethel M. Green and Katherine Clowers, and his granddaughter Amanda Burton.

    He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Darlene "Kitty" Burton, his sons Guy Burton, Jr. of Elkridge and David W. Burton of Glen Burnie, his daughters Diane E. Cavender and Darlyn D. Eyring both of Glen Burnie, his grandchildren Ashley, DJ, Zach, and Katie, and his great granddaughter Navaha.

    Friends may call on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Stallings Funeral Home, P.A. where funeral services will be held on Monday at Noon.  Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake.
