  • John L. Wibbe, 81, a 34 year resident of Pasadena died on September 8, 2016 at University of Maryland Medical Center.

    He was born on May 12, 1935 in Syracuse, NY to the late Jack and Maybelle Wibbe.  He graduated from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY in 1957 with a degree in Physics.  Before beginning his career with NSA in 1975, he worked for various defense contractors in the DC area.  

    Mr. Wibbe was a member of the Lake Shore Rotary and of the Mencken Society.  Following retirement in 2001, he volunteered at the National Cryptologic Museum and the I95 Information center.  John played softball for various leagues until the age of 75.  He enjoyed reading, traveling and he was an avid Orioles fan.

    He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joan B. Wibbe, his son John L. Wibbe, Jr., his daughter Mary Tills, his stepchildren; Russell Chalk, Jr., Christopher Chalk, and Holly Carloss (Chris), his sister Mary Martinez (Ricardo) and 9 grandchildren.

    Friends may call on Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Stallings Funeral Home, P.A. and from Noon to 2:00 PM at St Andrews Episcopal Church where funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM.  Interment Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
