  • Charles Richard Holmes Sr, 78, a lifelong resident of Pasadena, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

    Mr. Holmes was born March 24, 1938 in Baltimore, MD to the late Julia and Thomas Holmes. Mr. Holmes worked for Lever Brother for 33 years retiring in 1992. He was a member of Bible Church of Lake Shore. He served in the US Marines for 3 years. He was a member of the old Lake Shore Democratic Club and a member of Patapsco River Power Squadron where he taught navigation. Mr. Holmes was a volunteer at the Lake Shore volunteer fire department. In the late 90's he owned Special Days Cafe. He enjoyed boating. 

    Mr. Holmes is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Joan F. Holmes, sons Charles R. Holmes Jr. or "Chuck" of Pasadena, MD, David W. Holmes and wife April of Pasadena, MD, Mark C. Holmes of Glen Burnie, MD, daughter Jo-Ann Elaine Shields and husband Randy of Pasadena, MD, brothers Thomas J. Holmes Jr. of Pasadena, MD, Francis A. Holmes of Pasadena, MD, sister Beverly C. Wilkins of Pasadena, MD, grandchildren Wesley Holmes, Christopher P. Shields and wife Ciera, Ryan E. Shields, Kai Noah G. Bell and great grandchildren Julionna Holmes, Cailean Holmes and Olivia Shields. 

    Friends may call Sunday, October 2, from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122

    Services will be held on Monday, October 3, at 11:00 AM at Stallings Funeral Home. Interment will be at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
