  • Preston A. Adcock, 83, passed away on November 3, 2016 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center surrounded by his immediate family.  A longtime resident of Pasadena, Preston was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew and friend. 

    Born in Amherst, Virginia on March 13, 1933, he was the son of the late Aubrey and Pearl (nee Branham) Adcock.

    Preston was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War.  He retired from a long career as a truck driver for the A&P grocery store chain.  In 1998, he was the recipient of a new heart at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

    Preston is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rachel Smith Adcock; five children: Rob Adcock and daughter-in-law Laura, Tina Marie Adcock, Jamie Adcock, Michele McCoy and Melody Pearson, son-in-law Bill Pearson; 9 grandchildren of which two live close by, Brad McCoy, Cory Pearson, and Robert Adcock, sisters Lou Willis of Cape Coral, Florida and Dorothy Allen of New Canton, Virginia and best buddy Barbara Guthrie.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian Schaffer Adcock and a daughter, Cricket Adcock.

    The family would like to express their appreciation for the kindness, patience and professionalism to DaVita Pasadena Dialysis, Debra Carter, member of the Heart Transplant team at Johns Hopkins Hospital and to the team of nurses, aides and doctors at Baltimore Washington Medical Center that attended to the needs of Preston and the family Thursday morning.  A special thank you to Mr. Peterson (Security) at the hospital, he was a godsend.  A very special thank you to Lyndalynne Leight for her unbelievable kindness in the home.  There are angels walking among us.

    A visitation will be held from 4 pm to 8 pm Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Rd. Pasadena, MD.  A funeral service will begin at 9:30 am Monday, November 7, 2016.   Interment will follow in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Rd., Crownsville, MD. 

    Flowers are welcome and in lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in memory of Preston Adcock to Johns Hopkins in support of the Comprehensive Transplant Center.
