Earl Schanken, 89, a resident of Pasadena died April 20, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Schanken was born in Baltimore, MD. on June, 26 1927 to the late Ada and Emil Schanken.
He worked for Standard Oil Com. Service Station on the corner of Mt. Rd.and Long Point Road between the 50's-70's. Mr. Schanken retired from NSA in 1991 after 15 yrs if service.
His hobbies included making well known Uncle Earl fudge, coaching little league baseball for Lake Shore, hunting, crabbing, gardening, and putting together jigsaw puzzles which he framed as gifts. He was an avid Orioles fan whom also enjoyed serving and volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, Serv International at New Windsor, Salvation Army, Lake Shore Rotary Dinners, Meals on Wheels, and NEON.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Nellie Schanken, 1 brother, and 3 sisters.
Mr. Schanken is survived by his wife Joan Schanken, son Gary Schanken (Ruth), step son Robert Williams, step daughter Kathi Drenning and Linda Henthorn (Norm), grandchildren Bryan, & Steven (Krissy) Schanken, Bryan & Craig Drenning, Erin Johnson, Christopher & Laura Bente, and Alex Henthorn, great grandchildren Jacob, Maggie & Brooks Schanken; Jackson, Nolan, Harper, and Wesley Drenning.
Friends may call on Sunday April 23rd. 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. at the Stallings Funeral Home, P.A. A funeral service will be held at Mt. Carmel UMC Monday April 24th. at 11 a.m. Interment Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake or Habitat for Humanity.
