Details:
  • Edward Victor “Vic” Brumwell, Jr was born February 22, 1945 in Baltimore, MD. He grew up in Pasadena, Md and was the son of the late Edward Victor Brumwell, Sr. and Lelia Lockerman Brumwell Kinsley. He graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1963 and worked for Western Electric (a subsidiary of AT&T) in Baltimore, MD from 1964-1977. In April of 1977, he decided to leave the city life and pursue his true passion, dairy farming. He leased a farm in Hagerstown, MD and milked 90 cows twice daily, raised 50 heifers annually, and farmed 300 acres with the help of his oldest sons, Vic Jr (III) and Jason. In October of 1983, he was employed by Sire Power (currently Select Sire Power) out of Tunkhannock, PA. After 14 years with Sire Power, he then switched gears and became employed with Readington Farms of Whitehouse, NJ as a Field Service Representative (milk inspector). He thoroughly enjoyed his work in the dairy industry, meeting farmers, sharing stories and helping them with any issues that would arise. In November of 2012, he decided it was time to retire and enjoy his afternoon siestas, whenever he felt like taking one.

For the past 24 years he spent his time with his significant other, Bonnie. Every fall they would enjoy days at the Bloomsburg Fair. They vacationed in Cape May, went to farm and livestock auctions, and visited with his grandchildren in Maryland and Lopez, PA. He enjoyed “supervising” his sons while they made maple syrup in Lopez and making trips to Maryland to visit his daughters and enjoy delicious steamed Maryland blue crabs. He also enjoyed visiting his very good friend “Steve” Keller while he fixed “things” in his garage in Bloomsburg, PA.

In his earlier days, Vic had a mule named Ike and he and Bonnie would go camping with his friends from the sheriff’s posse all over PA, he was an active member of the posse for the past 14 years. When not riding with the posse, he would also trail ride the mountains of PA with his friends Doc and Denny and dabble in buying, raising and selling beef cows with a group of friends known as the “cow consortium”.

Vic passed peacefully on April 22, 2017, surrounded by loved ones.

He leaves behind his significant other, Bonnie Karnes (Berwick, PA), five children; Vic Brumwell (Jean Hovan)Towanda, PA, Jason Brumwell (Lopez, PA), Crystal Brumwell (West Friendship, MD), Laci Arbaugh (Bryan) New Windsor, MD, and Chase Brumwell (Jodi) Lopez, PA, four grandchildren; Alexis and Audrey Arbaugh, Emerson Brumwell, and Bryson Charles. Two sisters; Debbie Sears (Gambrills, MD) and Tammy Bresnahan (Stephen) Severna Park, MD as well as many nephews, nieces and many other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, E.V. Brumwell and Lelia Lockerman Brumwell Kinsley, and a brother, Michael Brumwell.

At his request, there will be no funeral services.
