  • Mildred "Peggy"  Edelen, 80, a resident of Glen Burnie since 1940, died Monday, May 29, 2017 in her home. 

    Peggy was born October 13, 1936 in Lynchburg, VA to the late Mr. and Mrs. Johns. 

    Peggy worked as a Anne Arundel County School Bus Driver where she retired in late 1990's after 32 years of service. She was an  active member in Women of the Moose Lodge, chapter 1176 of Glen Burnie, MD since 1989. She was a member Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW in Baltimore and the Ferndale Community Club. She enjoyed shopping, bus trips, Friday nights at Carol's Western and her nightly hangouts at Dunkin Donuts. 

    In addition to her parents, Peggy is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Elwood Edelen, son Charles Edelen, brother Roland Johns, Charles Johns and sister Shirley Johns.

    She is survived by her son James E. Edelen, Sr. and wife Deanna of West Virginia, step-daughter Barbara Jean Day and husband Bernard of Glen Burnie, brothers MacArthur Johns and wife Susie, William Johns, Albert Johns, sister Phyllis Prater and husband Gene, Sr., grandchildren Jamie Edelen, Deidre, Mercedes, Amber, James, Jr. and his wife Felicia, great grandchildren Wesley and Colton Edelen, Camryn Jackson and many nieces and nephews. 

    Friends and family are welcome Thursday, June 1st from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122 where services will be held Friday, June 2nd at 9:30 am. Interment at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery.
