  • It is with great sadness that the family of Bertha M. Lake, age 71, a resident of Pasadena Md., announce her passing.

    “Bert” as she was known by her friends and family, was born in Baltimore Md., on July 28, 1946 to the late Joseph and Mary Braun.

    She will be lovingly remembered by her son Robert Miller along with his wife Millicent and her daughters Jaime Hines with husband Brad and Judy Jenkins.  Also by her four grandchildren, Benjamin Miller, Joseph Miller, Chad Ravert and Malinda Hines.  Fond memories will also be held close to heart by her brothers, Robert Braun and John Braun as well as her sisters, Roberta Desch and Mary Weber as well as many nieces and nephews.  Bert was predeceased by her loving brother Joseph Braun Jr.

    Bert graduated “Cum Laude” with a Bachelor of Arts from the Columbia College in Columbia Missouri and she also achieved her Licensed Practical Nursing Certificate from Lord Fairfax Community College in Northern Virginia.  Bert spent most of her working years as a social worker and nurse while she enjoyed the opportunity to make a positive change in the lives of others.

    Bert spent much time volunteering with the American Red Cross, Girl Scouts of America and Christian youth and single ministries while in Germany and the Special Olympics among others while in the states.

    A memorial service will be held for Bert at Glen Haven Memorial Park at the “Circle of Reflection” Bldg 2, on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 11:30am.   Family members are invited to attend a celebration of Bert’s life at the Sunset Restaurant located at 625 Greenway Rd SE, Glen Burnie Md. 2106, immediately following the service.
