Details:
  • Joanne Patricia Gable, 86, a resident of Pasadena, MD, passed away peacefully in the early morning of October 22, 2017.

Joanne was born in Honolulu, HI, on November 10, 1930, to the late Francis and Lena Attridge, and was the youngest of five children. In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Eugene V. Gable, her brother Norwood Attridge, and her sisters, Doris Baldwin and Susan Klug.

After graduating from Glen Burnie High School in 1948, Joanne spent several years working in the admissions department at the University of Maryland, College Park. In the fall of 1948, Joanne met the love of her life, Eugene (Gene) V. Gable. Their courtship lasted two years and they were married on December 2nd, 1950. This was the beginning of their family life. She became a committed homemaker and spent her time raising their seven children on Disney Avenue in Pasadena.

Joanne loved God and faithfully attended the Bible Church of Lake Shore, where she and her husband were members for over 25 years. She loved playing the organ, and served in the Sunday school nursery as well. Earlier in life, she enjoyed tending to several flower gardens in her yard, and raising her three Cairn terriers, Judy, Carrie and Muffin. In more recent years, she loved receiving daily visits from all of her family and friends. She always made herself available to help them in any way she could. She also enjoyed watching Fox News, old movies, and tending to her pet fish.

She is survived by her eldest brother, Robert Attridge, of El Paso, TX; her children and their spouses, David and Jacklyn Gable of Queenstown, MD; Mark and Kim Gable of Centreville, MD; Susan and John Celia of Brooklyn Park, MD; Julie and John Cary of Pasadena, MD; Paul and Shonette Gable of Pasadena, MD; Alan and Karin Gable of Pasadena, MD; Matt Gable and Debbie Krueger of Pasadena, MD; and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
