  • Joseph T. Pope, Sr., 95, a resident of Pasadena for 43 years passed away November 26, 2017 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

    Mr. Pope was born April 30, 1922 in Baltimore to the late Harry C. and Louise M. Pope.

    He was a veteran of WWII serving honorably in the US Army Air Corp.

    Mr. Pope was a steel fabricator and welder for Baltimore Air Coil for 20 years and then for Geischner Iron Works in Beltsville retiring in 1986 after over 20 years of service.

    He was a member of St. Jane Francis de Chantal Catholic Church and active at Jenkins Memorial Church.  Mr. Pope was also a member of Friendship Square Dancers Club, a 40 year member of the Four Counties Square Dancers and Mason Dixon Square Dancers Federation where he was an officer for over 41 years and past president on the Board of Directors. He was a director of the 33rd National Square Dancer Convention in Baltimore in 1984 and Assistant General Chairman 49th  Convention in 2000.

    He enjoyed camping, square dancing, and giving hugs. 

    Mr. Pope was preceded in death to his first wife Helen Pope, son: Joseph T. Pope, Jr., and 6 brothers and sisters. 

    Mr. Pope is survived by his wife of 43 years Norva H. Pope (nee Clow), son: Robert H. Pope and his wife Katrin of Hanover, step daughter: Judy Willey and her husband Donald of Glen Burnie, step son: Charles S. Clow and his wife Paula of Bel Air, 12 grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 

    Friends may call Wednesday 7-9pm, and Thursday 3-5pm and 7-9pm at Stallings Funeral Home P.A., 3111 Mountain Rd, Pasadena, MD 21122, Friday 10am-11am at Jenkins Memorial Church where funeral services will be held at 11am. Interment Meadowridge Cemetery. 

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jane Frances Catholic Church, Jenkins Memorial Church, or Wounded Warriors.
