  • On the afternoon of Saturday, January 27, 2018, Eleanor Gladys Sasser passed away at St. Agnes Hospital, surrounded by her beloved children and grandchildren.

     

    She was born June 20, 1929, in Baltimore City, Maryland to Nicholas and Emma Diehl.  She graduated from Eastern High School in 1947.  She was married to George W. (Walt) Sasser in 1949 until his death in 1982.  They had seven children.

     

    Eleanor was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and was much sought after as a vocal soloist at various churches, venues, and events. Besides her passion for music, she devoted herself tirelessly and lovingly to her family and loved ones.

     

    Eleanor is survived by her seven children, John, Michael, Jeffrey, Timothy (and wife Guin), Christina, David (and wife Julie), and Janine (and husband Sam).  She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

     

    Her memorial service will be held at Arbutus United Methodist Church, 1201 Maple Avenue 21227, at 12:00 noon, with visitation with family from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.  Interment will be at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park immediately following the service.

     

    The family asks that any donations or gifts be made in her memory to Arbutus United Methodist Church, of which she was a long term and active member.

     

    Eleanor Sasser believed that being a mother was the highest calling with which a women could be blessed, and for that her family will be eternally grateful.
