  • Tom Albert, Sr., a resident of Glen Burnie since 1959, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 in his home. 

    Mr. Albert was born November 4, 1929 in Bethlehem, PA to the late Anna and Henry Albert. He served in the US Air Force and then used his GI bill to get a degree in Sociology from Penn State. He came to Baltimore in 1954. He first worked at the Baltimore City Department of Public Welfare and then for the Maryland Prisoner's Aid Association using a work study plan while attaining an MSW Degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Work. He was later the Chief of Training and Staff Development for the Department of Juvenile Services and retired from the State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. 

    Mr. Albert was an avid Tennis player, liked taking long walks and also enjoyed reading watching sports and crossword puzzles. 

    In addition to his parents, Mr. Albert is preceded in death by his sisters Kay McClure, Lucy Hafner, Edna Crumlish and brother Henry Albert, Jr.  He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Ann Tracey Albert, son Thomas Albert, Jr. of Glen Burnie, daughter Cynthia L. Albert of Pasadena, brother Joseph Albert of New Jersey,  and sisters Martha Hartman of Virginia and Mary Ann Weaver of Wisconsin. 

    Friends may call Monday, March 19th from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122 where a service will begin at 1:00 pm. Interment at Glen Haven Memorial Park at a later date.
