  • Raymond Murray Hibberd, formerly of Glen Burnie, died on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at the Morningside House of Friendship, Hanover, MD. He was 94 years old and had been in the care of Hospice of the Chesapeake for several weeks. 

    Born in Annapolis, MD, December 31, 1923, he was the son of Raymond A. E. Hibberd and Annie Louise Helwig Hibberd. He was preceded in death by his wife Vera Virginia Wolff Hibberd and his first wife Rhoda Jane Lewis Hibberd. Also preceding him in death were 2 sisters: Verna Hibberd Klakring and Frances Hibberd Covington Bradshaw, and a brother: Carroll Lee Hibberd. 

    Mr. Hibberd is survived by a sister, Edna Mae Klakring (husband Harold) of Annapolis, and many nieces and nephews. 

    After graduating from Annapolis High School in 1941, he was employed by the United States Naval Academy where he worked until retirement as a Management Analyst. 

    He was a WWII Veteran, having reached the rank of Sargent in the US Army Air Force, Radio Intelligence Squadron. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. 

    Mr. Hibberd was an Elder in the Trinity Bible Church and currently has been a long-time active member of the Community Church of God in Glen Burnie. He was a Past Director of the Annapolis Junior Association of Commerce, Past President of the Annapolis Athletic Association, Past President of the Severn River Navy Credit Union, Past Noble Grand in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge 116, Life Member of the Salvation Army of Annapolis Advisory Board, and was a leader in many more organizations, too numerous to mention. 

    A memorial service for Mr. Hibberd will be held at the Community Church of God on Sunday, June 10th at 3:00pm - Pastor Will Craig officiating. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Hibberd requested that donations be made to the Community Church of God, 306 5th Avenue, Glen Burnie, MD 21061.
