  • Paul L. Mathias, 91, formerly of Randallstown and Thurmont, MD passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Chesapeake on August 3, 2018.

    He was preceded in death by his wife Anna Sue Mathias (nee Emmons).

    He was born in Littlestown, PA on November 14, 1926 to the late Robert and Alice (nee Yingling) Mathias.

    He served honorably in the Infantry division of the US Army in Germany during WWII.  He was a lifetime member of many service clubs.

    Mr. Mathias retired as a Federal Railroad Inspector.

    He enjoyed antique cars, playing cards, farming, bird watching and building birdhouses.

    He is survived by his step-daughter Nancy Gore and her husband Ron, grand-daughter Nicole Retz and her husband Christopher and great grand-child Arabella.  Nieces and nephews David Goudy, Cabot Goudy, Richard Mathias, Peggy Koontz, Gary Mathias, Dennis Mathias, Nancy Sommers, Daniel Nowell and Doug Nowell.  Also a host of cousins and great nieces and nephews.

    In addition to his wife he is preceded in death by his siblings Thelma Goudy, Melvin Mathias, Phyllis Nowell, Kenneth Mathias, and Fay Mathias and nieces and nephews F. Gray Goudy, Jr., David Nowell and Janet Hale.

    Friends may gather from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the Stallings Funeral Home, P.A. 3111 Mountain Road Pasadena, MD where a service will begin at 2:00 PM.  Interment is private.  Contributions in his name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517 or online at Donate Now.
