  • Kenneth Hilliard, Sr., a resident of Pasadena since 1961, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. 

    Mr. Hilliard was born November 9, 1933 in Stanley, VA, to the late Hubert and Sina Hilliard. He retired from Grace Chemical in the mid-1990s after 46 years of service as an electrician.  During that time, he was a member of the Local 976 Chemical Workers’ Union and was twice elected to the office of President.  He attended Magothy United Methodist Church.

    During his teen years, Mr. Hilliard worked at Luray Caverns and, in later years, enjoyed taking trips back to that part of Virginia.  He coached girls’ softball in the Lake Shore community in the 1960s and football for the Lake Shore Spartans in the early 1970s.  He also enjoyed playing in horseshoe tournaments and cheering for the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles.

    In addition to his parents, Mr. Hilliard was preceded in death by his brother, Holmes Hilliard, sister, Jennette Painter, and grandson, Kenneth Hilliard III.  He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary F. Hilliard, son, Kenneth P. Hilliard, Jr. and his wife Sherry of Pasadena, daughters, Dawn Martin and her husband Gerald of Pasadena, Franie Letmate and her husband Phil of Glen Burnie, and Cheryl Russell-Webb of Chincoteague, VA, sisters, Laura Bell of Virginia, Sarah of Ocala, FL, Betty Jane of Kentucky, and Lucille Burner, 5 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

    Friends may call Wednesday, October 17th from 3:00 to 5:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122 where services will begin at 8:00 pm. Interment is private.
