  • Joseph Bloom, Jr., 59, a 33 year resident of Severn died suddenly of a stroke on April 27, 2009 at John Hopkins Bayview Hospital.
    He was born on November 8, 1949 in Baltimore, Maryland to Frances and the late Joseph Bloom.
    Mr. Bloom grew up in the Pasadena area and graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1969.
    He was the owner and founder of J&J Discount Tire on Erdman Avenue in East Baltimore for 33 years.
    Mr. Bloom served in the US Army from 1971-1972.  He was a member of the American Legion in Severn and the Glen Burnie Moose.
    His hobbies included driving race cars at Capital Raceway, traveling, and antique cars.
    Mr. Bloom is survived by his wife, Mary C. Bloom, his sons Joseph T. Bloom of Glen Burnie and Marvin Bloom of Severn, his daughters Catherine V. Bloom-Lopez of Glen Burnie and Sarah M. Bloom of Severn, his mother Frances Bloom of Baltimore, his brothers John Bloom of Glen Burnie, C. Lee Bloom of Baltimore, and his sister Frances McLaren of Pasadena.
    He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Bloom and his brother Barry Bloom.
    Friends may call on Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Stallings Funeral Home, PA. where funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 1, 2009.  Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD.
