  • James E. Parks, Jr., 73, a lifelong resident of Pasadena, MD, died on December 15th, 2018 at the Hospice of the Chesapeake.


    Mr. Parks was born on July 16th, 1945 to the late James and Evelyn Parks. At the age of 16 he began volunteering at the Lake Shore Volunteer Fire Department.  Later, in the mid to late 1960s, he helped load trucks at D&M Distributors and worked at the Forestry Station at Long Hill.  In 1966 James began working for the Baltimore County Fire Department and eventually served as their IAFF shop steward. He was also a member of the Baltimore County Firefighter’s Association.  He retired from the department in 1993 after 27 years of service. Outside of work, James was a member of St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church and an avid Orioles fan.  More importantly, he loved his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his dog, Sadie.


    In addition to his parents, Mr. Parks is preceded in death by his grandchildren, the late Ryan Fernholz and Wayne E. Ryer, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Irene C. Parks; sons, James Parks, III of Baltimore and Joseph M. Parks, Sr. (Lisa) of Pasadena; daughter, Michelle D. Pawley (Douglas) of Dundalk; 7 grandchildren, Blaine Terrell, Bradlee Terrell, Shane Ryer, Joseph Parks, Jr., Mikayla Ryer, Jarrett Parks, and Christian Bowser; and 6 great-grandchildren, Destiny, Reece, Jordan, Lucas, Marshall, and Camden.


    Friends may call on Tuesday, December 18th from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Rd., Pasadena, MD 21122 where services will take place on Wednesday, December 19th at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
