Details:
  • Roderick Irving Miller, 79, of Linthicum, MD passed away on March 4, 2019, surrounded by family.

He was born to parents Merle and Evelyn Miller on September 20, 1939, in Springfield, VT. Roderick enlisted into the Navy upon completion of his high school diploma in Springfield. While proving to be a valuable asset in the Navy, Rod was actively recruited by the NSA. Roderick worked hard for 30+ years at the NSA as a Computer Scientist.

Roderick is survived by his sister, Judy Pelser; his sons Rick (Patti) Miller, Thomas (Stacey) Miller, Scott (Liz) Miller, and John (Samantha) Miller; as well as his much loved grandchildren Nathan, Lindsay, Jacob, Logan, Tyler, Riley, and Elijah Miller. Roderick was predeceased by his parents, Merle and Evelyn Miller.

His love for his grandchildren was no secret. The smile on his face would light up the whole room when his grandchildren would walk in. Rod enjoyed the whole movie theater experience, watching a new movie on the big screen with a large bucket of popcorn. Rod had a passion for collecting antiques. As a previous antique store owner, Rod knew the value of treasures found at yard sales or flea markets. Some of his greatest treasures were friends he made along the way.

There will be two viewings held for Roderick on Friday from 1pm -3pm and 5pm - 7pm, March 8th at Stallings Funeral Home where a service will begin at 7:00 pm.  Interment will be held at a later date.
