  • David Michael Herbig, 77, of Pasadena died suddenly at home on Thursday, January 27, 2011. Born July 5, 1933, the son of the late Robert and Ethel Herbig, he grew up in the Bar Harbor community of Pasadena Maryland, attended Glen Burnie High School and lived in
    Pasadena most of his life.
    He was involved with the Riviera Beach Volunteer Fire Company from his early teenage years. He served in the United States Air Force from 1949 - 1953 and was part of a B-29 bomber
    flight crew during the Korean War. He attained the rank of Sergeant during his service.
    He also served as an Anne Arundel County Police Officer from 1958 -1962.
    Mr. Herbig studied statistics and law at the University of Baltimore and retired from the State of Maryland Department of General Services.
    He was well known for his talents and expertise in carpentry and wooden boat restoration.
    Mr. Herbig is preceded in death by one sister, Janet Burl.
    He is survived by his wife, Gail Herbig (NEE Hnyla); two children, Anne Foley and husband Greg and Travis Herbig and wife Megan; one sister, Linda Baker; grandchildren Alex Foley, Lauren Foley, Lilly Foley and Amelia Herbig; Step children Sherri Hutson, Debbi Hutson,
    Greg Hutson and Michele Shelton and Step grandchildren Mike and Ryan
    Edwards, Kevin Schofield, Brian Hafer, Riley and Jenna Hutson, Genevieve, Chip and Kayla Shelton.
    Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, February 3 at Stallings Funeral Home, P.A., 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena where the funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 4. Internment at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery.
