    Dr. Randall McLaughlin, 89, a resident of Anne Arundel County since 1948 and most recently of Arnold died on May 7, 2011 at Fredrick Villa in Catonsville.

    He was born in Delta, PA on May 19, 1921 to the late Randall O. and Isabelle McLaughlin.

    Dr. McLaughlin graduated from Delta High School then Penn State College in the early 1940's and finally from the Thomas Jefferson School of Medicine in 1946.

    He served in the US Army from 1943 until 1948 and was discharged as a Captain.

    Dr. McLaughlin practiced medicine in Pasadena on Mountain Rd. for over 46 years.

    He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, American Medical Association, and the Lake Shore Rotary Club were he has held many offices and was in charge of gathering clothing and medical supplies for the orphanage in Haiti. He was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army and also helped them serve meals. Dr. McLaughlin sat on the Board of Directors for Bello Machre and North Arundel Savings and Loan.

    His hobbies included coaching basketball for AA Co. Boy's Basketball and St. Jane Francis School for the 10-12 yr olds. He was voted Coach of the Year from the Arch Diocese of Baltimore Catholic Youth Association. He also enjoyed playing in the over 60 senior league softball and basketball for Anne Arundel County. Dr. McLaughlin was an avid writer, poet and reader.

    He is preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Elizabeth “Betty” A. McLaughlin, his brother Robert H. McLaughlin, and his parents.

    Dr. McLaughlin is survived by his son Randall M. McLaughlin, Jr. of Aiden NC, his daughters Anne M. Horman of Baltimore, Elizabeth Hampton of Hubert NC, and Mary C. Beason of San Diego CA, his companion Joyce Burke of Arnold, 11 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.

    Friends may call on Thursday and Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Stallings Funeral Home, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday 10:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.
