  • Joseph Michael “ Mickey” Downey, Sr., 71,  died on February 19, 2012 at his home, in Pasadena.
    He was born in Baltimore Maryland on August 26, 1940 to the late Charles Edward Downey Sr. and Alice Bridge Downey. He was one of the first graduates of St Jane Frances DeChantel School in Rivera Beach Maryland. He attended Mt Saint Joseph High School in Baltimore. Mickey severed in the US Army from 1957 to 1960. He worked most of his life in construction. He also served as a member and President of the parish council at St Jane Frances.
    Mickey better known as Pop-Pop is survived by his wife of 50 years, June (Hare) Downey, his children;  Joseph M Downey Jr. of Millersville, Lea Downey-Rivera of Pasadena, Joan Johnson and June Marie Holland both of Severna Park, and Anne M Harrison of Easton, 18 grandchildren, his brother James P Downey Sr. and his wife Betty of Linthicum.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is preceeded in death by his brothers Thomas and Charles Downey Jr. and his sister Mary Genevieve Downey.
    Friends may call on Thursday from 3-9 at Our Lady of the Chesapeake Church Ventor Road Pasadena Md. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10AM on Friday. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery Crownsville, MD.
