  • Carroll W. Matanoski, 86, a resident of Pasadena for 8 years and formerly of Annapolis died on December 14, 2012 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

    He was born on April 5, 1926 in Baltimore, MD to the late Joseph and Josephine Matanoski.

    Mr. Matanoski graduated from Southern High School in Baltimore and then served in the US Navy during WWII. After he was discharged from the Navy he graduated from Towson State Teacher College. Mr. Matanoski was a retired Baltimore City school teacher with over 20 years of service.  For the past 35 years he has been Executive Director of Damascus House in Brooklyn Park.

    Mr. Matanoski was a member of Our Lady of the Chesapeake, the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus Council 3413 in Severna Park.

    His hobbies included gardening, reading, swimming, and traveling. He also enjoyed his beach house in Delaware and spending time with his granddaughters.

    He is survived by his wife, Doris A. Matanoski , his sons; Gregory J. and his wife Deborah of Reisterstown, Vincent J. and his wife  Carin of Silver Spring, Dennis F. and his wife Vivian of Reisterstown, and Joseph C. Matanoski of Reisterstown, his daughter Mary Kate Herbig and her husband Richard of Jarrettsville, his sister in law Theresa Matanoski and his granddaughters Viviana and Genevieve.

    Mr. Matanoski is preceded in death by his brother Melvin Matanoski and his sister Theresa Mallonee.
    Friends may call on Monday from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Stallings Funeral Home, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Our Lady of the Chesapeake on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. Interment MD Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville.
