Details:
  • Sara Ann Fries, better known as “Sally,” died at the age of 89 on Thursday May 23rd, 2013. On June 22, 1923 she was born to the parents of William Charles Wolfe and Anna Reese Larkin. She was married to John Melvin Fries who died in 2003. Sally was a loving mother of five children, and she always put their interests before hers, and would always sacrifice for all of them. If anyone needed money or a place to live, she would offer her home. She not only raised her family but also played a major part in raising three of her grandchildren. All the kids in the family were always welcome in her home, no matter what they did.  In her younger years, she took care of her many brothers and sisters, then later she was a nurse during World War 2 and then she was a manager at a Sub Shop.  Her main focus was on family, and to always take care of people first before taking care of her needs.  She would always make sure that her family would visit her brothers and sisters as well as her husband’s brothers and sisters. Everyone was always welcomed at her house.  Sally dealt with serious illnesses for many years of her life, and she was still always willing to share anything she had with anyone who was with her. Even the last few years at Anchorage Nursing Home she would always ask about her sons, daughters, sisters and brothers and grandchildren. She would also share her meals and even desserts with anyone who came to visit.  She enjoyed reading the Watchtower and Awake magazines regularly and couldn't’t wait to get them.

Mrs. Fries was preceded in death by her brothers Eddie Wolfe, Howard Wolfe, Thomas Wolfe, Charles Wolfe and Leslie Wolfe, and sisters Mary Wolfe, Dee Prechtel, Virginia Schults, Gail Harper and Genevieve Liekem. Sally is survived by her brother Phillip Wolfe and her sister Isabelle Dorowitch,  as well as her  five children John (and Diana) Fries, Vickie O’Bara, Donna(and Raymond) Bartlett, Gary (and Deborah) Fries and Dale (and Melissa) Fries. She had ten grandchildren who are Christopher Fries,  Holly Fries, James O’Bara, Ericka Martin, Raymond Bartlett, Scott Bartlett, Buddy (Robert) Fries, William Fries, Gregory Fries and Christina Vanbeber. She also has sixteen great grandchildren, ten boys and six girls.  There will be a public viewing on Friday, May 31st at 3pm to 5pm, and 7pm to 9pm. Funeral Services will be at Stallings Funeral Home, at 11:30am on June 1st.  Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 7501 German Hill Rd, Dundalk, MD.
